STOP SINGLE SALE OF CIGARETTES

A SCHOOL principal has called on the national government to impose ban on the single sale of Cigarettes in the country. Principal of Gwaunaoa High School Roland Repii said the sale of single Cigarettes is one of the factors contributing to the high rate of smoking among teenagers as well as the underaged. “If the Government put a ban on this it means people have to pay over $20 for the packets of Cigarettes - an amount which teenagers do not have access to daily. “But when we sell at $1 for each cigarette this is very cheap and affordable as a result More and More youngsters are smoking.” He said he hope Government takes his concern seriously.
